GENERAL GUIDELINES: for formatting, structure, and template.

Decide on your resume template. There are a lot of templates available online. The problem with many of these templates is customization becomes difficult. You type one extra sentence or try adding a headline, alignment will be all over the place.

Create your own in MS WORD or GOOGLE DOCS using the below guidelines.

1.Use 1 inch margin on all the sides, 10 – 12 pt font size, and 1.15 line spacing.

2. If you are using 12 pt as your font size, select 14 pt font size for header and add extra space before and after each section heading.

3.Bold the section headings to separate them from the rest.

4. Be consistent in your resume, follow the same date format for example: (Feb 2010-Mar 2011) don’t change it to (02/2010-03/2011)

5. Check for grammatical errors.

6. Don’t use short forms or jargon.

7.The ideal resume size to a 1-page maximum of 2 pages, don’t go beyond that.

8. Don’t alter the original information; if you are shortlisted, you will easily get caught either during the interview process or in the background check. You will lose your credibility.

9. Proofread your resume.

NOW apply and

Take that first crucial step towards your dream job.
